Definition:
OFC copper refers to copper alloys produced through an oxygen-free electrolysis process that produces high-grade, low-oxygen copper.
Meanwhile, OCC copper refers to copper alloys produced by the Ohno continuous casting process, which involves continuous casting of copper alloys without interruption.
Differences:
1.OFC is an electrolytic process, and OCC is a continuous casting process.
2. OFC copper is a highly purified form of copper that is free from impurities such as oxygen, which can have a significant impact on the electrical properties of copper. The electrolysis process involves the removal of oxygen through the use of highly reactive barium compounds, which combine with oxygen and form a solid through a process called coagulation. OFC copper is widely used in applications requiring high electrical conductivity, such as wires, transformers and connectors.
On the other hand, OCC copper is known for its fine microstructure and homogeneity. The Ohno continuous casting process produces highly uniform and defect-free copper whose structure is characterized by a large number of evenly distributed small crystallites.
